The U.S. Senate is set for a critical procedural vote on the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act on September 15, with White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urging lawmakers from both parties to support a motion that would allow the legislation to move forward.

According to reporting cited by @WuBlockchain and Forbes, Witt, executive director of the White House Digital Asset Advisory Council, and Bessent have separately warned that failing to advance the bill could undermine U.S. leadership in digital assets and close the current legislative window.

The September 15 vote is a procedural step rather than a financial vote on the legislation. The motion to proceed must clear a 60-vote threshold for the Senate to move toward formal consideration and further amendments.

The latest version of the bill incorporates 114 amendments or provisions requested by Democrats. Senate Republicans released revised text ahead of the vote, including changes addressing decentralized finance and the regulatory treatment of certain digital-asset activities.
