Zcash (ZEC) reached its highest price since 2018 on Aug. 23, briefly climbing above $855.
The move came as Grayscale pushed further toward converting its Zcash Trust into a spot
exchange-traded fund (ETF)
and derivatives traders piled into the rally with heavy leverage.

gained more than 22% in the 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm UTC on Aug. 23. Over the full week, it rose more than 30%. Its intraday range ran from $589 to $851, a swing of 45%. The token's market capitalization stood at approximately $13.8 billion.
Grayscale Files 5th Amendment for Spot ZEC ETF
The rally was already underway before Grayscale's latest move. ZEC had gained more than 30% for the week when Grayscale submitted its fifth amended registration statement on Friday, Aug. 22. The filing seeks to convert the existing Grayscale Zcash Trust into a spot ETF on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH, with an annual sponsor fee of 2.5%. The application does not represent approval and remains subject to SEC review.
