Crypto-aligned super PACs spending tens of millions in competitive elections signals that the industry is becoming a more organized force in U.S. policymaking. Their activity could shape the congressional coalition for legislation governing market structure, stablecoins and crypto oversight, affecting regulatory certainty for institutions and issuers.

    21:26

Luigi Mangione is expected to plead guilty Friday in the federal case in connection with the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to sources familiar with the matter. It is unclear if Mangione will plead guilty to one or both of the two stalking-related charges in his federal case, but the expected plea comes less than a month before his New York state murder trial is set to begin. NBC News Legal Analyst Misty Marris analyzes what may have motivated Mangione’s lawyers to change his plea. Plus, in the 2026 midterms, three cryptocurrency-aligned super PACs have spent tens of millions of dollars to support both Democrats and Republicans. At least two of them list the same Minnesota address as their headquarters. OpenSecrets Senior Reporter Joedy McCreary breaks down how these PACs are working together to support candidates who would help formalize the role crypto plays in our financial system. Lastly, the dating app Bumble is breaking up with its entire premise. It said this week that it’ll allow men to message first.
