Bitcoin (BTC-USD) opened at $81,271.92 on Friday, September 4, 2026, 5.1% higher than Thursday's opening price. As of 7:21 a.m. ET this morning, the price of bitcoin shifted to $81,240.29.

Ethereum (ETH-USD) opened at $2,507.70 on Friday, September 4, 2026, up 4.9% from Thursday's opening price. The price of ethereum moved to $2,522.14 as of 7:21 a.m. ET.

Bitcoin prices are holding above $81,000 this morning ahead of the August jobs report and following statements from one Fed governor who said he might hold rates steady later this month.

Bitcoin opened at its highest price since May 12 today after comments from Fed Governor Chris Waller, who said he's focused on next week's inflation report to sway him to hold rates steady or raise them. Following the governor's comments, bitcoin saw its largest ETF inflow in nine months.

If the August jobs report continues to show modest but stable growth, expectations for steady rates could grow, prompting a further run for bitcoin and ethereum prices.
