Bitcoin Suisse, one of Switzerland’s longest-running crypto financial services firms, is cutting up to 60 jobs in its home market as it restructures from a primarily Swiss company into an international financial services group. The Zug-based provider said the move will affect up to half of its 120 Swiss jobs.
The reduction adds Bitcoin Suisse to a growing list of crypto firms trimming staff and consolidating operations as the industry matures and cost discipline returns to the market. The changes concentrate on support and development functions rather than customer-facing roles, the company indicated.
A consultation window that runs to September 20
A company spokesperson told Switzerland’s AWP news agency that part of the change stems from software development and back-office functions being consolidated within international hubs. The exact details of the restructuring are the subject of an ongoing consultation process that will run until September 20, the spokesperson said.
Bitcoin Suisse has not yet disclosed a specific figure for job losses at its Zug headquarters, where the company has anchored its operations since it was founded more than a decade ago.
