Empery Digital’s BTC buffer shrinks after it sells 1,635 Bitcoin — Details AMBCrypto

Empery Digital is lowering its Bitcoin [BTC] stack at a rapid pace. The business sold 1,635 Bitcoin for roughly $102.2 million between 1st July and 6th August.

And yet, despite those sales, Empery still had 1,279 BTC as of 6th August. Worth noting, however, that there is one loophole of 954 BTC pledged as collateral for a $35 million loan.

This means that unless the debt and collateral arrangements permit it, the business won’t be able to freely sell or use those 954 BTC.

The business held 1,375 BTC worth of unrestricted Bitcoin as of 30th June. However, by 6th August, that had dropped to just 325 BTC. This implied that in just over a month, about 1,050 BTC in unrestricted holdings vanished.

How is Empery Digital using its Bitcoin?

For its part, Bitcoin is being used increasingly by Empery Digital to pay for its business commitments. With the sale of 1,167 Bitcoin for $80.1 million in H1 2026, it contributed to the repayment of $10 million in loans, $50 million for the Repo Facility, and $54 million for share buybacks.

Following collateral calls, it moved 576 Bitcoin in February and 186 Bitcoin in June. The lender returned 585 Bitcoin after a $20 million debt repayment, lowering the debt from $55 million to $35 million.

That said, with a working-capital deficit of $5.7 million as of 30th June and only $3.7 million in cash on hand, the business might have to sell more Bitcoin or get more funding to fulfill its future commitments.

Additionally, Empery may also have to pay $62.1 million in addition to the $2.9 million that has already been contributed for a planned data center acquisition.

This development follows Michael Saylor’s Strategy changing from its long-standing never sell policy to actively managing its balance sheet. For those unaware, Strategy has already sold roughly 6916 Bitcoin so far to cover its dividend obligations.

Additionally, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), which previously owned roughly $1.456 billion in Bitcoin, has since scaled back its exposure.

According to AMBCrypto’s previous report, with an average price of roughly $74,860, TMTG sold 7,281 BTC for $545 million in 2026. It locked in losses of about $318 million.

Final Summary

  • As of 30th June, Empery Digital held 1,375 BTC of unrestricted Bitcoin.
  • This, after Strategy sold roughly 6916 Bitcoin to cover its dividend obligations.
