Anthropic has begun accepting applications for its new automated security scanning service, and some of the first requests are coming from teams that build critical infrastructure for the crypto economy. The opt-in service is designed to give open-source maintainers faster access to vulnerability reports generated by Anthropic's most capable models, including Claude Mythos. The company's pitch is straightforward: defenders need to find and fix flaws before attackers do, and manual review processes are often too slow to keep up with the pace of modern threats.
"These reports will be generated by our strongest models (including Claude Mythos) to give open-source projects the largest defensive advantage," Anthropic said in its announcement.
The service builds on Project Glasswing, an earlier Anthropic initiative that scanned open-source code and shared findings after human review. The limitation of that approach, the company acknowledged, was the bottleneck created by manual verification. OSS Scanner removes that step for participating projects, delivering automated reports as soon as a repository has been scanned.
