Hyperliquid's HYPE token has been newly included in the Nasdaq CME crypto index.
On Sept. 1, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported the change took effect alongside a regular quarterly rebalancing after a prospectus supplement for the Hashdex Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF (NCIQ) was filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The overhaul also disclosed the inclusion weights of 9 assets in the index. Bitcoin kept the largest share at 74.36 percent and ether remained second at 11.88 percent. HYPE was added for the first time with a 3.36 percent weight, and Solana was at 3.79 percent, not far from HYPE. XRP held on to third place at 5.21 percent.
The top of the index remained unchanged, but the newly added asset was not insignificant. HYPE secured a weight close to Solana from its first day in the index, and entered with a larger weight than assets such as Cardano (AVAX), Chainlink (LINK), Stellar (XLM) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). The remaining amount of less than 1.5 percent was allocated across assets.
Meeting criteria required by exchanges was cited as the backdrop for Hyperliquid's inclusion. Hyperliquid met the index entry requirements by satisfying standards for market capitalisation, liquidity and safe custody. Infrastructure in the U.S. market was also presented as a factor supporting the inclusion.
