The researchers used quantum circuits to reliably track the dynamics of cavity mediated two-qubit gates. Their algorithm, designed for compatibility with current Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) systems, analyzes parameters including qubit/cavity detunings, cavity damping and qubit couplings to map the fidelity of state transfer. The work provides a robust and intuitive solution, validated by comparison to existing methods, and identifies previously unexplored regimes for optimal performance.

Quantum Algorithm Maps Fidelity of Two-Qubit State Transfer

The new quantum algorithm determines the maximum fidelity achievable during quantum state transfer by systematically varying key system parameters, including qubit and cavity detunings, cavity damping, and coupling strengths. This approach bypasses limitations inherent in analytical methods, which often rely on approximations or struggle with computational scaling when modeling complex light-matter interactions. The algorithm’s ability to map fidelity across a broad range of parameters allows for the identification of previously unexplored regimes of optimal performance.

Specifically, the simulations reveal effective two-qubit gate operation even when qubits are significantly detuned from each other and from the cavity itself, challenging conventional assumptions about resonant interactions. Researchers examined the impact of the rotating wave approximation on state transfer, a common simplification used in quantum optics that can introduce inaccuracies.
