Ripple Exec Pushes Senate to Meet 'a Real American Crypto Holder' Before CLARITY Vote

Ripple Chief Legal Officer Stuart Alderoty on Wednesday urged undecided Senate offices to meet an everyday crypto holder before voting on the Clarity Act, as Republicans warn the bill is likely to fail on Sept. 15.

What Alderoty Is Asking For

Alderoty reached out directly to undecided and opposed Senate offices with a simple request: sit down with a real American crypto holder before casting a vote. 

Not a lobbyist or industry executive, but an ordinary person who owns crypto and has a story worth hearing. 

He argued that Congress should hear from the 67 million Americans who stand to be affected by the outcome before making its decision.

Why the Bill Is in Trouble

Analyst Scott Melker flagged on X that Senate Republicans say the Clarity Act is likely to fail when the Senate returns next week. 

The sticking point is a Democratic demand for ethics language covering President Donald Trump and his family, with little movement from either side. 

Meanwhile, Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD) told reporters it “does not look good right now,” while Senator Thom Tillis (R-SC) warned the bill will fail without White House effort to bridge the ethics gap.

The White House insists Trump is “unequivocal” that Congress must pass the Clarity Act and claims it has already agreed to the most comprehensive ethics provision in history.
