Tait made the call in a Consensus Miami interview with David Lin, posted on Youtube later that month, and has recently gone viral on social media. It is circulating widely again because every bout of market stress revives the same question: Does bitcoin protect capital, or does it join the stampede for the exits?
Tait told Lin at the event:
“I know my personal opinion on bitcoin is that it’s going to go to zero… That’s my personal opinion … It’s just my personal opinion … Just instinct as a trader.”
He was very careful to label it a personal view, not a World Gold Council (WGC) forecast dressed up as research. No model, no target date, no spreadsheet, just the instinct of a trader who has watched risk assets break together.
Tait Says Bitcoin Trades Like Leveraged Risk
Tait’s case comes down to the tape. When stocks wobble and liquidity dries up, bitcoin has repeatedly traded with the risk basket instead of acting like insurance. That is the inconvenient part for anyone who bought the safe-haven pitch.
