Users of the social network X in the United States can now buy and sell assets directly through their feeds. To make this possible, the platform has expanded the functionality of Cashtags and connected them to partner brokerage firms.
Based on data from Techcrunch
At the initial stage, the service works with Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase. Through the integration, users can access stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and cryptocurrencies.
How trading through Cashtags works
The Cashtag format originated during the Twitter era. It adds a dollar sign before a stock ticker and helps users find posts about a specific asset. Previously, the tag merely brought discussions together, but it now also leads to trading tools.
Cashtags shorten the distance between a ticker in the feed and the market itself. When a user posts a ticker or clicks on one, they immediately go to the asset’s page, where they can view a real-time chart, discussions about it, and now also place a trade through one of our brokerage partners.
