Forecast Trend Report by Period

Bitcoin funding rates in the derivatives market have climbed to their highest level in 20 months.
Digital-asset outlet U.Today reported on Aug. 18 that funding rates for Bitcoin perpetual futures had reached their highest point in about 20 months. After plunging in June, Bitcoin has recovered the $60,000 level, leading investors betting on further gains to expand long positions.
Funding rates are periodic payments exchanged between long and short traders in the perpetual futures market to keep futures prices aligned with spot prices. A positive funding rate generally means holders of long positions are paying more than those holding short positions.
U.Today said the current buildup in long positions could reinforce upward momentum if Bitcoin breaks above $66,000. If support gives way, however, heavily leveraged long positions could be liquidated in a chain reaction, amplifying downside volatility.
The 20-month high in funding rates shows investors are betting strongly that Bitcoin's recent rebound will continue, the outlet wrote. Even so, it said, the optimism visible in derivatives markets has yet to be confirmed on price charts.
