Institutional Bitcoin staking goes live on Stacks at Bitcoin block 966,350. BTC holders and corporate treasuries can now stake Bitcoin in self-custody on Bitcoin L1 to earn a BTC yield, with UTXO Management, a subsidiary of Nakamoto Inc., as the first committed staker through its 4,467 BTC treasury.

The launch routes institutional BTC capital through the Stacks network for the first time, giving STX a concrete demand channel tied to treasury allocation rather than retail participation. Staking in self-custody on Bitcoin L1 addresses the custody concern that has kept many corporate treasuries out of yield programs, since the BTC never leaves the holder's control. UTXO Management's 4,467 BTC commitment provides an initial reference size, and additional treasuries adopting the same mechanism would increase settlement activity and yield demand on the network. The thesis being tested is whether Stacks can become the yield and settlement layer for Bitcoin treasuries.
