Australia shuts down Cryptolink Bitcoin ATMs over AML concerns

Australian regulator AUSTRAC has turned Cryptolink's 96 ATMs in the country offline over concerns with anti-money laundering. As a result, all of these ATMs will be offline for three months, according to a report by Coin Telegraph,reposted on Trading View.

AUSTRAC stated that the company did not meet AML reporting guidelines, including those for threshold transaction reports. This isn't the first time Cryptolink has had issues with AUSTRAC, as it paid a $56,340 infringement notice for alleged breaches in AML protocols.

"As part of our continued focus on digital currency as a money laundering risk, AUSTRAC has ongoing concerns about the company's ability to manage high-risk transactions through its CATMs," Brendan Thomas, CEO, AUSTRAC, said in the report.

At the time of the writing of this story, Cryptolink has not responded to a request for comment from ATM Marketplace.
