Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of Ethereum, pushed back on concerns that advances in artificial intelligence could threaten Bitcoin security.
Wu Blockchain reported on September 7 that Buterin is optimistic about the long-term trajectory of cybersecurity and said Bitcoin should be able to handle problems that do not require social consensus.
Bitcoin moved from $63,412 to $78,298.3 over the last 30-day period, a gain of 23.5 percent.

He said attacks at the network layer could be addressed through upgrades to clients and mining pools. He added that the chances of Bitcoin’s core hash functions or proof-of-work system being rendered ineffective are “extremely low.”
Buterin also said he does not agree with projections that AI could weaken Bitcoin’s security architecture and trigger a drop of more than 50% in Bitcoin’s price within the next two years.
His comments come as debate continues over how rapidly advancing AI technology could affect existing cryptographic systems and blockchain security. Buterin emphasized that if a security threat can be addressed technically, the Bitcoin ecosystem can resolve it through its own upgrades.
