Swiss-licensed Bitcoin trading service Pocket Bitcoin updated its investigation findings on September 3 regarding a security incident that occurred in August, revealing that personal information belonging to 5,411 customers had been exposed. The breach affected KYC documents for 291 individuals and bank transfer records for 5,120 individuals, including names and addresses, as well as copies of identification documents and International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs) for the originating accounts of certain transfers.

The company first disclosed the incident on August 21 and published its initial investigation results on August 31. This latest update confirms that the scope of the data exposure was larger than initially estimated. Affected individuals are being notified via individual emails specifying the types of information that were compromised.

The exposed data falls into two broad categories. The first consists of communication data exchanged with partner banks for identity verification and proof-of-funds purposes, covering 291 individuals and including names, mailing addresses, Bitcoin addresses used in transactions, copies of identification documents, and proof-of-funds documentation.
