Stacks has activated Bitcoin staking, letting BTC holders earn native yield while their bitcoin stays on the base layer. The launch puts Stacks' flagship feature into production and opens a direct path for Bitcoin capital to enter sBTC and the Stacks economy.
The design keeps custody of bitcoin on the base layer while staking activity generates yield, so holders do not move BTC off Bitcoin to participate. Participation flows through sBTC, which represents staked bitcoin inside the Stacks economy and connects that capital to Stacks applications.
For STX, wider use of sBTC raises the token's utility because network activity, fees, and demand for Stacks services scale with the bitcoin locked through the mechanism. Actual adoption now depends on how much BTC holders choose to stake and how the yield performs in practice.
