Nevada city council to discuss moratorium on data centers and cryptocurrency projects

NEVADA, Iowa —

The city of Nevada could temporarily halt future data center projects, battery storage facilities, and cryptocurrency operations as city leaders consider new regulations.

On Monday, the city council is set to discuss a moratorium that would pause applications and permits for these projects. The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Several counties and cities across Iowa, including Ames, Marshalltown, Boone County, Marshall County and Madison County, already have moratoriums in place.
