What Happened to Avici and Rain
Avici operates as a non-custodial neobank: users can spend cryptocurrency via a card integrated with Visa. After the incident, AVICI dropped from a 24-hour high of about $0.43 to a historic low of $0.217, then partially recovered and hovered around $0.378.
According to Avici, the attack only affected the Solana contract, where funds were stored after card top-ups. Self-custody wallets on compatible Solana and Ethereum networks were not affected. The company promised to compensate all affected card balances.
Rain stated that the vulnerability was discovered during monitoring. It was an outdated contract version used by Avici and several other programs. Afterward, Rain updated all programs on this version and has not recorded any further unauthorized operations.
