Hacker Claims $8.2M Profit From GOLD Token Launch, Says Funds Will Target Trump Family Bounty

A hacker who took over the official X account of realtrumpcoins has claimed to have made more than $8.2 million from issuing a token called GOLD, and stated that the proceeds would be used as a bounty targeting members of the Trump family. The claim, posted on the compromised account before it was secured, has raised fresh concerns about the security of social media accounts tied to political figures and the growing use of meme coins for malicious purposes.

Background: The GOLD Token Launch

The incident unfolded when the official X account of realtrumpcoins, a project associated with the Trump family’s crypto ventures, was compromised. The attacker used the account to promote a new token named GOLD, which quickly attracted trading volume. According to the hacker’s own statements, the token sale generated over $8.2 million in profit for the attacker before the account was locked or recovered.

Blockchain data suggests that the GOLD token was a typical pump-and-dump scheme: early buyers were lured by the association with the Trump name, driving up the price, after which the attacker liquidated holdings, leaving later investors with significant losses. The token’s value has since collapsed, and trading activity has largely ceased.
