Draper’s warning
Draper said companies of that size have no excuse for holding none of it, and had a one-word verdict on the ones sitting out:
“Irresponsible.”
He tied the argument to where fiscal policy is heading, warning that current trends could end in either hyperinflation or sharply higher interest rates.
Either outcome would put the traditional financial system under real strain, he said, with bitcoin serving as the hedge.
Corporate adoption stalls
Corporate bitcoin treasuries became an industry theme after a string of publicly traded companies, most famously Strategy, started buying.
The biggest names never followed.
Microsoft shareholders rejected a bitcoin proposal at the company’s December 2024 annual meeting, with only about 0.55% of votes cast in support, or 28.23 million shares.
Meta shareholders weighed a similar measure in May 2025 that asked the board to assess adding bitcoin to the treasury, and the board recommended voting against it.
Bitcoin moved from $78,966.1 to $86,367 over the last 30-day period, a gain of 9.4 percent.

Salesforce and McDonald’s went the same way.
An alternative economy
Draper described bitcoin as the infrastructure for an alternative financial economy, one where blockchain systems and smart contracts thin out the ranks of accountants, bookkeepers and payment middlemen.
He expects plenty of cyclicality before people reach for bitcoin instead of dollars, and thinks AI will pull that day closer by making it easier to build software around the network.
Earlier this year he argued that quantum computers would crack banks well before they cracked bitcoin, calling his own coins safer than dollars parked in a bank account.
The asset is still nowhere near his repeated $250,000 price target.
