Altcoins' share of Binance futures volume fell 16 percentage points over the past week to 47% from 63%, according to the cryptocurrency-focused media outlet on August 28.
By contrast, Bitcoin and Ether gained share over the same period, indicating that futures trading is concentrating in the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
With altcoins' share of futures trading dropping below half, investors' short-term trading preference has shifted to Bitcoin and Ether.
